Jaden Smith is dedicated to educating youth about sustainability with his water bottle company, JUST Water.
“Sustainability to me is doing and making the right decisions so that we can have a better world for tomorrow” said Jaden Smith, the creator of the company that is revolutionizing bottled water.
Growing up, he noticed something that made him want to become more involved in helping the environment.
“When I was a kid, I kept seeing discarded water bottles on the ground everywhere, and the amount of waste blew me away” Jaden wrote in a letter on InStyle.
“I told my parents that I was passionate about reducing our carbon footprint, so in 2008 we helped launch Just Water, a company that sells spring water in more-planet-friendly bottles” he added.
Each bottle is 80% made out of renewable resources instead of plastic and contains 100% spring water.
They’ve achieved a 74% reduction in carbon emissions compared to a standard PET plastic bottled water.
The bottle caps are made out of sugarcane, a water efficient plant that receives nearly all of its water from Brazil’s rainy water.
JUST Water has also partnered with Glens Falls, New York where the water is bottled and packaged.
“Essentially, our company’s created a more ethical water model that makes zero impact on the community water draw” said Jaden on InStyle.
On how the partnership is helping the city: “We decided to pay six times more for the water than the next highest-paying water user in the area. This way, the city can take that money and give back to their water infrastructure.”
