Solange to Headline Peace Ball at The National Museum of African American History and Culture in DC

After an 8 year run, President Barack Obama is set to give his farewell address on January 10, 2017 in Chicago. Thousands lined up in 3 degree weather for a chance to receive a ticket to the event (12/07/1/7).

The day before (01/06/17), Michelle Obama gave her final speech as First Lady of the United States and said “being your first lady has been the greatest honor of my life and I hope I’ve made you proud.”

Busboys and Poets, a DC restaurant, aims to help people stay positive in tough times with a star-studded event the night before Inauguration Day 2017.

As noted on their official site, Peace Ball: Voices of Hope and Resistance is “[a] gathering to celebrate the accomplishments and successes of the past 4 years and the vow to continue to be the change we want to see in the world.”

It will be held at The National Museum of African American History and Culture (DC) and feature food, live music and access to the exhibits.

Solange will be headlining the Peace Ball and tickets sold out in a week. She scored the No.1 album in America with A Seat At The Table — a body of work that captured the black experience powerful commentary and artistic visuals.
